18 August update:
In addition to the games listed in our 6 August update, we now have the
following two games:
- Roly Hermans and Steve Sands from the Kapiti Fusiliers will be doing
a Peninsular War scenario game with 28mm figures, using "General
de Brigade" rules.
- A group from Palmerston North are doing the Battle of Gorodetschna
1812, Austrians and Saxons versus Tormarsov's Russian Third Army in
15mm.
6 August update:
Greetings all. There has been some great response from both near and
far. And so Ill take this opportunity to update everyone on what
developments have occurred.
Please note we have a new venue address. It is Saint Brendan's School,
corner Sutherland Crescent and Palmer Crescent, Trentham (by the racecourse).
So far we have:
- Upper Hutt using Barry Edwards Rules with their 25mm figures
and looking at Quatre Bras.
- Kapiti Coast are said to be using Donald Featherstones Napoleonic
rules, again with 25mm.
- Wainuiomata are looking at re-fighting Borodino.
- We have confirmation that Napier are sending a group down using Grande
Manner in conjunction with Gisborne.
- The Hamilton boys are sending a strong contingent, also using Grande
Manner, but in a figure scale of 1 to 50.
- We've heard that 15mms are being bulk painted for Tauranga, who will
be using the rules General de Brigade.
- We have some very keen interest from Wanganui, and a detachment of
gentlemen will be attending using 25mm Age of Eagles.
- Masterton are also looking at a visit although it is unknown whether
they will bring 15mm or 25mm.
- And from Napier region we have some Napoleonic naval showing very
keen interest but as yet to be confirmed.
with another detachment from Napier keen to attend using Principles
of War.
- Also some positive interest from New Plymouth.
- From the South Island I have heard that some gentlemen will be displaying
their collection of plastic troops.
- And, finally from the United Kingdom, I have a gentleman who is due
to return and has confirmed his interest although it is unknown whether
his collection of 15mm troops, based up for Principals of War will
arrive in the country on time. So he is keen to either stage his own
game with POW and supply some spare armies if they arrive on
time, or to jump in with another group.
If anyone is keen to join any of these groups, then please contact
myself and I shall direct you on to the relevant person. To this point
we may possibly be able to source a spare army for those in need.
This is all very positive and confirmations are now coming through, so
please keep this up. And thank you to all those who have already done
so.
And now I am into the hard word: we need your input and participation
and most of all a cash commitment. To pay for the hirage of the hall we
need a minimum of 20 persons to step forward and confirm (I'll
be there).
On this note, there is an excellent accommodation facility in Silverstream,
costing just $22.00 per night, including breakfast. If you're interested
please contact me.
Come on people lets get things moving.
